The Power of Hearing — Allah Hears Every Whisper

The Power of Hearing — Allah Hears Every Whisper

All praise is due to Allah, the One who hears all things — the loud and the soft, the spoken and the hidden. We praise Him, we rely on Him, and we call out to Him with our hearts full of hope. We testify that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and final Messenger.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today’s khutbah is about a power that brings us comfort, confidence, and courage: the power of Allah’s hearing. He is As-Samee‘The All-Hearing. Nothing escapes His hearing. He hears the thunder in the sky, the drop of rain on a leaf, and even the whisper in your chest.

Nothing Is Too Quiet for Allah

As humans, our hearing is limited. We need silence to focus. We need ears to hear. But Allah’s hearing is perfect — not limited by distance, time, language, or even silence.

“Indeed, My Lord is the Hearer of supplication.”
(Surah Ibrahim 14:39)

When you whisper “Ya Allah” in a dark room… He hears you.
When your heart trembles but your lips are silent… He hears you.
When the world turns away and you cry in secret… Allah hears every tear that falls.

The Story of the Woman Allah Heard

One of the most powerful examples of Allah’s hearing is the story of Khawla bint Tha‘labah, a woman who came to complain to the Prophet ﷺ about her husband.

She stood outside, speaking in a soft voice, but Allah heard her from above the seven heavens.

“Indeed Allah has heard the statement of the woman who disputes with you concerning her husband…”
(Surah Al-Mujadila 58:1)

SubhanAllah! Imagine — a woman in pain, speaking softly, and Allah responds by revealing Qur’an about her. This is how closely He listens.

You are never unheard. You are never ignored.

Allah Hears Every Du’a — Even Before You Say It

Before a du’a leaves your lips, it is already known to Allah. But He loves when we speak to Him, when we call on Him by name, when we cry and whisper with trust.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Verily, your Lord is shy and generous. When His servant raises his hands to Him, He is shy to return them empty.”
(Tirmidhi)

You don’t need the perfect words. You don’t need a translator. All you need is a sincere heart.

“Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”
(Surah Ghafir 40:60)

Even if the answer is delayed, the hearing is instant. Allah listens — and He responds in the best time, in the best way.

He Hears Injustice, Oppression, and Suffering

Sometimes, people are wronged and feel alone. No one listens. No one believes them. But Allah does.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fear the du’a of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

If someone hurts you and you turn to Allah with pain, He hears and responds. If you wrong someone, and they cry out to Allah — be afraid, for His hearing is not delayed.

This is a warning and a comfort. Allah hears truth and falsehood. He hears the oppressed — and He hears the oppressor.

What Should We Do, Knowing Allah Hears All?

  1. Guard your speech.
Every word you say is recorded. Speak with kindness, avoid backbiting, and let your tongue remember Allah. “Not a word does he utter but there is a watcher by him ready to record.”
    (Surah Qaf 50:18)
  2. Speak to Allah more.
Make du’a often. Whisper your worries. Ask for everything — big or small.
  3. Don’t whisper sins.
Just because no one hears doesn’t mean Allah doesn’t. If something is wrong in private, it’s still wrong.
  4. Comfort others with your voice.
Say kind words. Uplift people. Make du’a out loud for your family. Allah loves hearing good from your heart and tongue.

The Power of Dhikr (Remembrance)

Every time you say “SubhanAllah”, “Alhamdulillah”, or “Allahu Akbar” — Allah hears you.

The angels carry those words and they rise up to the heavens, bringing light with them.

When you sit alone and say “Astaghfirullah”, Allah hears it — and He forgives you.

“Remember Me, and I will remember you.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:152)

Imagine — the King of the Universe remembers you by name because you remembered Him with your voice.

Even the Silent Du’a Is Heard

Sometimes we don’t know what to say. We sit in silence, eyes closed, hearts open.

Even then — Allah hears.

“And if you speak aloud — then indeed, He knows the secret and what is [even] more hidden.”
(Surah Taha 20:7)

So don’t think your silence is empty. With Allah, even the quietest heartbeat becomes a prayer.

Conclusion: Your Voice Reaches the Heavens

Dear brothers and sisters,

Never think you are too far, too broken, or too quiet. As-Samee‘ hears everything. You don’t need to scream. You just need to turn to Him. Your whisper shakes the heavens.

May Allah make us among those who remember Him often, call on Him sincerely, and live every day with the peace of knowing He is always listening.

“Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
(Surah Ash-Shura 42:11)

Ameen.
